A combination of soaring temperatures and lingering bushfire smoke on Tuesday could lead to 'severe illness', NSW Health has warned | rachelclun
“Hot weather and poor air quality are a recipe for severe illness unless people take simple precautions,” director of environmental health Dr Richard Broome said.
Smoke haze is forecast for parts of greater Sydney on Tuesday, with temperatures expected to reach 36 degrees in the city, 40 for Parramatta and Campbelltown and up to 42 in Penrith and Richmond. "Compounded by the continued impact of smoky air from bushfires, it’s important that people are prepared, particularly people with underlying medical and respiratory conditions," he said.
State Emergency Operations Controller, NSW Police Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys said it was also timely to remind people how dangerous it can be to leave children or pets alone in vehicles.
