Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says we’ll climb into the mid-80s this afternoon with a threat for rain and storms.

“Pretty strong storms are going to fire near the Florida-Georgia border this afternoon. So not very far away but the tendency should be for these to stay mainly north of the border through this afternoon”, said Buresh.The sea breeze will likely trigger a threat for afternoon storms between I-95 to the beaches. These would move pretty fast - upwards of 30 mph to the north and east.

We stay stay humid and cloudy overnight with a scattered shower or thunderstorm. Rain and storms will be around Wednesday, which appears to be the warmest of the week. Temperatures will push close to 90 degrees mid-week. Thursday is still looking cloudy with scattered showers and a few storms. Temperatures will be in the low 80s. By Friday the pattern turns dry, less humid and much cooler. It’ll be breezy with temperatures in the mid-70s.

The weekend looks dry, sunny, and spectacular. Temperatures will be below average, only in the low to mid-70s. We are tracking the potential for a few sea breeze showers/storms this afternoon. Also, a line of likely strong storms approaching our SE Georgia counties by 7 pm . Damaging wind gusts are the primary threat. An embedded tornado is possible in GA as well.
