A Highland man was sentenced to five years in federal prison for his role in 52 smash-and-grab robberies at cellphone stores during a two-month rampage around Southern California.
On Jan. 15, Stewart and two co-conspirators – Rayford Newsome, 21, of Compton; and Jerome Gregory Belser, 21, of San Bernardino –, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The threesome was connected to similar robberies from November 2021 to January at cellphone stores in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino, and Kern counties, prosecutors said.
