NSW Police are urging hikers to tread cautiously in alpine areas, after rescuing a group who became trapped for two days. The two men and women called emergency services on Sunday, after a blizzard struck and forced them to wait for help. 9News MORE:
The weather was already hazardous,The group had taken shelter in a two-room stone building called Seaman's Hut.
NSW Police's Alpine Operations Unit attempted to reach the hut on Monday, but serious weather stopped them.The hikers were equipped with adequate clothing, water and food.Nevertheless, police are reminding hikers not to venture into the alpine area when conditions are hazardous.
