Hillary Clinton responded to the arrest of Julian Assange on Thursday by saying that the WikiLeaks founder needs to face the charges against him.
Assange was arrested at Ecuador’s embassy in London on Thursday, where he has been a resident for seven years, because he “repeatedly violated” the conditions of his asylum. He was convicted of breaching bail conditions in the U.K. after skipping a court appearance to face charges of sexual misconduct in Sweden, which he has denied. The U.S.
WikiLeaks was involved in the release of 30,000 of Clinton’s emails that were sent from a private server when she was secretary of state, plus communications between Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee, that may have hurt her failed 2016 presidential bid.
