A former home of the Army Navy YMCA, the Guild hotel is planning to introduce new dining and drinking venues after it closed for good its signature restaurant at the very start of the pandemic

When the historic Guild Hotel opened more than three years ago in the heart of downtown San Diego, it also debuted its. Less than a year later, the pandemic hit, and the fine dining venue closed, never to reopen.

“We opened the hotel in July 2019, and we hadn’t had one full year of operation of the restaurant when the pandemic happened,” said Kevin Mansour, general partner with Oram Holdings, which developed the hotel at a cost of $80 million. “So we really never got off the ground and then had to shut down.“We believe now that in order to really deliver a unique experience for our guests, we have to tap into the local food scene to really make it authentic.

The notion of elevating the entire culinary program had been germinating for the last couple of years, said hotel general manager Onal Kucuk. “We’re using all local ingredients and all the cultural influence of California and Baja region,” Harrag said. “From fresh seafood to Mediterranean ingredients to Asian and European inspirations, our menu will be the best reflection of our region. And the bar program is meant to complement the other projects that the Be Saha group encompasses and also showcase artisanal spirits.”
