Australia has just had arguably its most successful grand tour performance in 14 years, winning two classifications jerseys and claiming second overall.

Following a historic performance at the Vuelta a España, Australia can justifiably call itself a cycling superpower.Ben O'Connor , Jay Vine and Kaden Groves ensured that three Australians would grace the podium in Madrid.

In that year's Giro, Australia won every jersey bar the overall as Cadel Evans , Matthew Lloyd and Richie Porte starred. He has now won back-to-back points jerseys at the Vuelta and become the first Australian to ever defend their jersey at a grand tour. The Flandrian sprinter has won nine stages at the Tour de France in his last three starts, including the points jersey in 2023.

Five months after Jay Vine was left wondering if he would walk again, he climbs into the king of the mountain jersey "We are obviously looking at someone who will fill in that general classification gap," general manager Brent Copeland said.
