State of Origin: Maroons assistant coach Josh Hannay has staunchly defended coach Billy Slater, amid reports his demeanor has changed following the Game II loss.
QLD assistant coach Josh Hannay has declared the Maroons will look to “bounce back quickly” from their abysmal Game II performance when they run out at Suncorp Stadium tonight.“We’re all prone to having off nights. We had a really off one,” Hannay told media on Wednesday morning.
“I think in the back of your mind having been through those experiences it’s something you can lean on,” he said.Queensland were off the pace from kick off in Game II, with the Blues jumping to a 16-0 lead after 23 minutes. Hannay stressed the importance of his side starting the decider strongly, labelling the opening section of the game as “critical.”“Credit has to go to the opponent there, they didn’t let up. We can’t be making that same mistake again.“The start will be real important for both teams tonight.”
