The number of asylum seekers accommodated at a property in the county could more than double.
Shropshire Council says it is to question the decision by the Home Office to increase the numbers of asylum seekers currently accommodated at a Shrewsbury hotel from 67 to 186.
Councillor Picton said:"Like all other parts of the country, Shropshire has a part to play in supporting the dispersal of asylum seekers arriving in the UK and the country’s obligations to those seeking asylum. All local authorities are involved in this response. "We do not know when this will happen, nor the age, gender or nationality of any new arrivals," she said.
