Queenslanders remain on high alert as they wait to be told when they can return to their homes as the state’s fire emergency continues.

More than 80 fires were burning across the state on Saturday evening, including the deadly Western Downs bushfire.An emergency warning remains in place for the communities of Tara, Wieambilla and The Gums and residents have been told to leave their homes immediately.Residents of Tara, Montrose North have been warned it is still not safe to return to their properties.

Residents in Colosseum and Mount Tom in the Gladstone region have been urged to stay away from their homes as it remains not safe to return. Residents were ordered to evacuate shortly after 8pm but the order was revoked as there was no longer a threat to property.
