Authorities are investigating a shooting that left an officer and a suspect injured after a traffic stop Thursday morning. FOX13
According to a press release from the Kitsap Critical Incident Response Team, at 4:31 a.m. a
police officer pulled over a driver at the intersection of W. Washington St. and N. Third Ave. in Sequim. sheriff’s deputy arrived to assist the police officer. Authorities say at some point during the stop, an officer fired his weapon. The suspect was taken to the hospital and later booked into Clallam County Jail.
The man who fired at officers is a suspect in a murder investigation, according to the Clallam County Sheriff's Office. After the shooting, officers received a request for a welfare check on a woman in an area of unincorporated Clallam County. When officers arrived, they found the woman dead inside.After the suspect's arrest for the shooting, investigators learned the home where the woman was found was the suspect's residence. He is considered a person of interest.
