Hong Kong police have placed a bounty on a former Hong Kong politician and an Australian lawyer accused of breaking a national security law imposed by Beijing.
Melbourne lawyer Kevin Yam and Ted Hui – a former Hong Kong politician living in Adelaide are the subject of a $191,000 bounty which critics have labelled unprecedented.
Hong Kong Police Chief Superintendent Steven Li has told the Australian Government the police will not stop chasing the pair – who are among a group of eight alleged pro-democracy advocates. Foreign Minister Penny Wong says the federal government is deeply disappointed by the arrest warrants.
