Hundreds of travellers and transport workers are stuck in towns on either side of the Nullarbor Plain as fires burning in WA keep the Eyre Highway shut.
WA Emergency Services Minister Fran Logan said the road will remain closed while there is any risk to motorists.
"Remember one thing — it wasn't the emergency services and Main Roads which closed this road. The fire closed the road," Ms Logan said.Traveller Ben Viviers said they were frustrated but understood why the road remained shut. "I wish I could help out, it must be heartbreaking to try and contain these fires and all of a sudden it jumps containment lines," Mr Viviers said."I'm thinking of them and I'm praying for them."
