Police have confirmed that they have seized a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in connection with the incident which took place shortly before 4.30pm on Sunday.

A six-year-old child has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked by a dog. Emergency services were called to the scene in Ashington, Northumberland, shortly before 4.30pm on Sunday.

His injuries are described as “serious but non-life threatening”, ChronicleLive reports. The dog has been seized by officers pending further enquiries.
