A major western suburbs hospital was forced into lockdown for almost two hours on Sunday morning after a daylight shooting on a suburban street.

It is not known which of the three people discharged the firearm, nor how the third person fled the scene. Western Health chief operating officer John Ferraro said access to the hospital had been restricted from 9.15am until 10.55am.
