Nicholas Pagano, 31, a registered nurse from West Deptford, attacked the woman as she sat in a break room early Monday, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, a witness told police Pagano, who was a travel nurse assigned to the hospital, was not scheduled to work on the day of the attack.
“ then observed the victim running in the hallway, with Pagano chasing her striking her with what appeared to be a wrench,” the affidavit states. Police later recovered a wrench from the scene.
