Mantle’s HR chief may be referred to police after allegations he lied about a pay deal that deprived workers of pay.
The Fair Work Commission is considering referring the head of human resources for hospitality giant Mantle Group to the police after finding he deliberately lied about a sham pay deal that deprived hundreds of workers of their penalty rates.
Maurice Blackburn lawyer Giri Sivaraman, acting for United Workers Union in the case, said the ruling was extraordinary. Mantle HR chief Darren Latham “knowingly lied” to the commission about the agreement, the bench found.understands that despite the UWU appealing the deal in May, Mantle was still inviting new employees to sign away their penalty rates in inductions as late as November, ahead of the busy holiday season.to get the “Hot Wok” agreement approved, including on how many workers would be covered and information and voting meetings purportedly held that the commission found never happened.
