The House Judiciary Committee's rules meeting devolved into a spat over an amendment to have the Pledge of Allegiance recited before committee meetings.
The amendment, proposed by Rep. Matt Gaetz , was first objected to by Rep. Jerry Nadler , who argued it was redundant to recite the Pledge of Allegiance because the pledge is already recited on the House floor daily. Nadler then fired back at Mike Johnson's accusation that he skips the Pledge of Allegiance on the House floor, saying he has participated in the pledge on the House floor"dozens of times" and plans to continue to do so. The GOP House Judiciary Twitter page then tweeted the video and blasted Nadler for opposing the amendment, saying it was"unbelievable."
