WASHINGTON—The House is set to pass a $777.9 billion annual defense-policy bill later Thursday, authorizing billions of dollars more in fiscal year 2022 funding for the Pentagon than President Biden had requested, while also tackling thorny debates related to draft registration and military sexual assaults.
Republicans are expected to join Democrats in the House to approve the National Defense Authorization Act, which would boost defense spending by $37.5 billion, or about 5%, over last year’s budget, and about 3% above inflation.
