Assistant Climate Change and Energy Minister Jenny McAllister says the Housing Australia Future Fund is a “very important contribution” to Australia's overall pool of affordable housing. The Albanese government and the Greens have come to a deal on Labor’s signature housing fund, removing a double dissolution trigger, meaning the legislation will now pass the Senate. “This is an area of policy that is incredibly important for nearly all Australians,” Ms McAllister told Sky News Australia. “We’ve sought to bring a real focus to it in our first 15 to 16 months of government. “It is worthy of attention because if we can’t get this right, there are a lot of other challenges that we will find a lot more difficult to meet.”
