After months of stalled negotiations and threats from Labor, the Greens agreed to a deal with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Monday.

, agreeing to vote for the government’s stalled Housing Australia Future Fund legislation after Labor offered an extra $1 billion for low-income families.

Amid the stalled negotiations, Mr Albanese announced in June that state and territory governments would share in $2 billion of new funding for public housing.a plan to hand state governments and local councils a further $3.5 billion to fast-track the construction of 1.

“The Albanese government is set to deliver the single biggest investment in social and affordable housing in more than a decade, with welcome new support today for the Housing Australia Future Fund, meaning the legislation is set to pass the Senate later this week,” Mr Albanese said in a statement with Housing Minister Julie Collins.
