A 24-year-old carjacking suspect died one week after he was shot by officers in northeast Houston, the police department says.
Marcelo Alfredo Suarez, 24, was wounded on February 27 and died at a hospital on March 6.Police say the incident leading up to the shooting began when Suarez stole a man's vehicle at gunpoint and then fled the scene.
Other officers assisted in the ensuing pursuit and followed the suspect to the 7800 block of Tidwell Road, where the suspect got out and ran, HPD says. Chief Troy Finner with the Houston Police Department shared preliminary information after a suspected carjacker was shot by officers during a chase in northeast Houston. Suarez was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
