James Curtis Hamilton, 31, has been sentenced to 69½ years in prison for murder for the killing of Derwyn Lauderdale in 2020 in Rosenberg.A Houston man has been sentenced to nearly 70 years in prison for theJames Curtis Hamilton, 31, was sentenced Feb. 22 after being convicted of murder for killing Derwyn Lauderdale, who was married to Hamilton's former wife, the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office said in a release.

Lauderdale, 29, was fatally shot around 10:30 a.m. Oct. 11, 2020 at the Seabourne Creek Sports Complex in Rosenberg two days after Hamilton had made a threat via text message to kill him, according to prosecutors Lauren Valenti and Sunni Mitchell.
