Visually impaired Paralympian Felicity Johnson will be calling the para-cycling events at the upcoming 2024 Paris Paralympics.Johnson says her limited vision means she will rely on McGrory to be the “eyes” of the team and provide detailed visual information, while she focuses on delivering commentary grounded in her personal Paralympic experience and understanding of the sport’s nuances.
Twelve years on from her Paralympics appearance in London, where she took home gold in the women’s tandem one-kilometre time trial B, Johnson says her commentary debut is a way for her to live vicariously through the athletes participating in the Games. Tandem cycling involves riders with a vision impairment competing on tandem bicycles with a sighted teammate operating as their pilot.Johnson’s role will involve not just narrating the race but also providing rich insights into the athletes.
