Volkanovski admitted some fighters were talking about the lack of money on offer from UFC but he chooses not to dwell on the financials.
Additionally, the exclusive contracts make it extremely difficult to negotiate with other promotions. The UFC has signed deals with venues that bar them from hosting similar events by rivals around the same time as a UFC event. He was denied an opportunity to fight for the second time in two months at UFC 249 when his opponent missed weight causing the fighter to lash out at the team hotel in Jacksonville.A month or so before he was scheduled to fight on the UFC Fight Night card in London but it was called off and he didn't receive full payment. He hadn't fought since October 2019.
