CLEVELAND, Ohio – Rainbow flags are flying high all over the nation as millions celebrate Pride Month. But where did the flag originate and how did it become an international symbol of the LGBTQ community?– California’s first openly gay man to be elected to public office – felt the movement needed some kind of positive, inclusive symbol to represent the gay community. So, he asked his friend, Gilbert Baker to create one.
