A DCMS spokesperson said: “There is a need to update the UK’s broadcasting regulations to help our public service broadcasters compete and have successful futures in the digital age. We are committed to bringing forward a Media Bill.”
Those regulations, contained in the Government’s Broadcasting White Paper, will not be enacted in time for the royals, or former employees in the Sussex household, to make any complaint to Ofcom over their portrayal in the series.
