Tab Vintage’s Alexis Novak had found the perfect 1920s wedding dress well before she was even engaged.
Novak was instantly drawn to the pared-back number but wasn’t so enamoured with the original neckline. So, she took the dress to her tailor, Mia Danilowicz of MD Tailoring, to see what she could do. “We were playing with the shape and I tied the sleeves around my neck to make a halter,” Novak, who has sourced vintage for the likes of Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian, recalls. “We both gasped – that was it.

To finish off her look, she had a bright-pink Dries Van Noten tulle capelet turned into a veil, adding a touch of fun to the proceedings.
While – understandably – feeling pressure to source stand-out vintage wedding looks, given her line of work, Novak says going with your gut is crucial. “I knew [the dresses] were the ones by a feeling,” she says. “Finding the perfect wedding dress is a lot like finding your partner. That’s another reason I encourage brides to try vintage for their weddings; [the looks] are as one-of-a-kind as the bride who wears it.
