When 20-year-old Elizabeth Payne travels to Sydney from her home on the Central Coast, she often experiences harassment on public transport and near train stations.
The proposed charter will take inspiration from London's Women's Night Safety Charter, which asks organisations that operate at night to sign up to a list of commitments that support women's safety. Ironically, as she and fellow advocate Carla Strieck chalked up their message, a male passer-by contributed his middle finger.
