A huge blaze has ripped through an industrial estate in Cannock with a massive plume of smoke seen 'for miles around' as firefighters urge evacuations for the area
A vast fire has torn through an industrial estate in Cannock, producing a massive cloud of smoke visible "for miles around", and an urgent evacuation order has been issued by firefighters. Staffordshire Fire and Rescue took to X, formerly Twitter , to release details of the incident. A spokesperson said: "We have a very large scale incident close to the orbital islands in Cannock. We have 10 fire engines in attendance supported by specialist equipment and officers.
Due to the smoke, all residents have been asked to shut their windows and doors by the fire service. They've asked all local businesses to evacuate in the area. Startling photos illustrated a colossal cloud of smoke ascending from the town, situated just northwest of Birmingham. Dozens of firefighters rushed towards the scene in efforts to extinguish the raging blaze, according to reports, reports the Mirror.
Rumour has it that the fire wreaked havoc through part of an industrial estate in town, emanating from near a Sainsbury's whilst bystanders watched nearby. X user @R_Rock_CCGreens reported "Massive plumes of smoke can be seen for miles around,". A number of West Midlanders have expressed their shock at the scale of this morning's incident on X. Bryan Carmichael share a picture of plumes of smoke over green fields, saying: "Smoke stretching all the way to Tamworth. View from London bound train."
