Plans have been revealed for a colossal retail and business park close to the M65.
Lancashire Central is set to be one of the largest local developments in years, with proposals for a dozen new enterprises outlined for single scrap of land. On behalf of Lancashire County Council , applicants Maple Grove Developments are planning to enter discussions with the council for the mixed-use development.
Applicants outline the impact a development of this scale would have on future employment and sectoral growth. If given the green light, the development is expected to "focus on economic growth in the area, set out in a 10-year strategic regeneration framework." To the west of Zone A is a substantial landscaped area that provides extensive visual screening along Old School Lane while generating a green link between the north and south of the site. Zones B, C and D will offer high quality built environments suitable to promote employment, business and leisure uses with subtly different identities to define each zone.
Vehicular access to the residential area will be primarily via Stanifield Lane and Stoney Lane will be used for residential and emergency use. The residential development is likely to include 2 bed, 3 bed and 4 bed houses in mews, semi-detached and detached format with the potential for an apartment style development.
