Comedian Ed Kavalee will be Dave Hughes' new permanent sidekick on the Hit Network's national drive show in 2020.
debuted nationally on the KIIS Network in January 2015. Hughes and Langbroek, who first began broadcasting together at Nova in December 2001, defected from KIIS to Southern Cross Austereo at the start of 2018 to take over Hamish Blake and Andy Lee's national drive spot.
In Melbourne the show remains among the leading FM programs in the afternoon drive slot, earning a 10.5 per cent audience share in last month's penultimate ratings survey of the year and trailing FM leader Gold 104.3 on 11.2 per cent. However, the show's ratings in Sydney have slipped, down from a survey one high of a 6.9 per cent audience share in March to 5.3 per cent in last month's survey, well behind their KIIS drive replacementGemma Fordham, head of the Hit Network, said she was "proud" of the station's 2020 lineup.
"I'm excited Ed Kavalee is a permanent addition to Drive in 2020 as he and Hughesy have a history and chemistry that is a joy to listen to," said Fordham. "We are all obsessed with Kate's Italian adventure and are living vicariously through her! She will continue to keep us updated via the phone across the year."
