Hulu casts Joey King in its upcoming limited series We Were the Lucky Ones. Based on a bestselling book by Georgia Hunter, the story follows a Jewish family’s desperate struggle to reunite amidst the horrors of WWII and the Holocaust. The 8-episode series was penned by Erica Lipez , who will also serve as an executive producer alongside Jennifer Todd and director Thomas Kail .
Now, Deadline has confirmed King is the first star to board We Were the Lucky Ones. Other cast members will likely be announced soon. It is yet to be revealed what character King will play in the series, but it can be assumed she will hold one of the leading roles.Best known for her leading roles in The Kissing Booth and The Act, for which she received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, King also recently featured in the new Paramount+ picture, The In Between.
