Officials have identified the skeletal remains that were discovered at a construction site during an excavation in Queens nearly two years ago.

Skeletal remains that were discovered at a Queens construction site nearly two years ago have been identified as those of a woman who’s been missing for a decade, police said Friday.

The remains of Stevie Bates, a 28-year-old homeless woman, were found wrapped in a blanket during an excavation on Sept. 18, 2020 at 80-97 Cypress Avenue in Glendale. The excavation site is right across the street from Mt. Judah Cemetery and not far from at least seven more graveyards.Police said the identification of Bates was reported to them Friday by the city’s Medical Examiner.Stevie Bates was reported missing in April of 2012. Her remains were identified on Friday.Share this article:
