The San Diego Humane Society’s Walk for Animals — North County that was planned for Saturday has been canceled because of the forecast for rain and bad weather.
Rain and windy conditions leading up to the walk and on Saturday morning were cited as making it unsafe for the event. But the community can still participate in supporting the San Diego Humane Society in its efforts to care for an expected 40,000 or more animals in need this year.The walk is one of the San Diego Humane Society’s most important fundraisers and supports the nonprofit animal shelter and its programs helping animals.
Although Saturday’s walk is canceled, registered participants are encouraged to continue fundraising for the animals and the community can help the nonprofit raise money by donating atAlong with providing animals with shelter, the nonprofit provides veterinary care and rescues animals as well as helping families adopt new pets. Services range from dog licensing, spay and neuter, behavior and training assistance, including a free Behavior Helpline to a community pet pantry, and lost and found.
The Humane Society’s Walk for Animals — San Diego is still planned for May 6 at NTC Park in Liberty Station.
