A not-so-humble Sydney baker has been crowned the home of the best finger bun in Australia. The finger bun is an iconic Australian delicacy combining some of life’s greatest gifts: bread, icing and sometimes sprinkles. Frequently sold at Baker’s Delight or Brumby’s, the timeless treat is a favourite among Aussie kids and adults alike.
The secret to the bakery’s finger buns was the quality of its ingredients, Milgate said, as well as a change to the recipe. “Our frosting is made with cream cheese which sets us apart from most other finger buns that use Boston icing,” he said. “And of course, they’re made fresh daily with soft, sweet milk dough and have a slab of butter inside.” Milgate said finger buns held a “special place” in Australian culture.
