Partygoers in Melbourne have continued to blatantly breach coronavirus restrictions with more than 200 fines handed out over the weekend.

Among those blatantly disregarding the rules were nine people gathered for a 30th birthday party at a house in Caulfield on Sunday, while 13 people were caught playing poker at a private residence in Southbank on Saturday.Another man was fined after he was spotted by police stopped at aAcross the weekend police handed out 202 $1652 fines to people breaching the chief health officer’s restrictions – 119 on Sunday and 83 on Saturday.

“If the public don't comply, we will continue to ramp up our infringements issued, it is as simple as that,” Mr Patton said on Friday. “This type of blatant obvious deliberate disregard for the chief health officer’s guidelines we will be enforcing and we will continue to do that.”
