Hundreds of contact tracers have been brought in from interstate to help Victoria’s virus crisis after the state conducted more tests than ever before.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews on Saturday said they had carried out 25,730 tests in 24 hours and thanked residents for their contribution to the “collective fight against this virus”.“We are doing more testing than we’ve ever done.

Health Minister Jenny Mikakos announced a number of new sites had opened to deal with the thousands of people seeking tests after the state recorded 216 newShe said they aimed to provide a testing site at a maximum distance of 10km away for everyone within the locked down areas of metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire.More than 25,000 tests were carried out in 24 hours.

There is a drive-through site at Wooden Reserve in Tarneit from Monday, July 13 operating from 10am to 4pm daily. Melbourne Airport is also open for testing and according to the Department of Health and Human Services, it has “minimal wait times”.
