After just about a year in the job, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said he is 'convinced' hundreds of officers are working for the force when they shouldn't be, despite addressing the problem last October.

The Metropolitan Police force still has hundreds of serving officers who should have been sacked, Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has said.

The commissioner's comments come after a 2023 review by Baroness Louise Casey, who spent a year investigating the Met Police.and may have more officers like killer Wayne Couzens and serial rapist David Carrick. This week, Sir Mark said there is still no current way to sack officers who fail re-vetting - which measures individuals against the College of Policing's Code of Ethics among other factors.Can Met Police review foster change?

In the year to June 2021, 56 were charged, while the following year that figure was 58 and in the year to June 2023 it was 52.
