Four incidents on paths at Mt Coot-tha, and one nearby, were reported to police in May and June.
The event was organised in an effort to give people confidence in running the trails in the wake of random attacksCouncil recently installed hundreds of cameras along the trail in an effort to catch any perpetrators
The event was organised by state Labor MP Jonty Bush, whose sister was killed by an intimate partner. "I also had a lot of men coming to me as well saying they didn't feel comfortable running alone, they didn't want to be in a position where they might inadvertently scare a woman so that's when I knew we had a real issue here."It includes two alleged sexual assault attempts, an alleged wilful exposure, and a group of women allegedly being menaced by a loitering man.
"With these attacks, even though there's only been a few and they've been very random … these women, they think: What if it happens to me?"Ms Spencer said today's event was a chance for men and women to come together to say enough is enough. "It's really important to get the community together and show everyone these trails are really important to us and we need to feel safe on them."
