More than 10 years after the first movie was released, a new Hunger Games cosplay recreates Effie Trinket’s butterfly dress to stunning effect.

A new cosplay sees Effie Trinket's iconic butterfly dress from The Hunger Games stunningly recreated. Based on the novels by Suzanne Collins, the first Hunger Games movie was released in 2012, starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen. Elizabeth Banks also stars in the film franchise as Effie, an escort of the District 12 tributes who is known for her eccentric and elaborate outfits.

Now, cosplayer Emski has shared her take on Effie on Instagram, recreating the character's instantly-recognizable butterfly dress, complete with an ornate headpiece. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The outfit is one of a number of bold clothing items that Banks wears as Effie over the course of the four Hunger Games movies. Banks has previously revealed that Marie Antoinette was a major source of inspiration when it came to her character's clothing choices and general appearance.

Capitol City citizens evidently hold fashion in high regard, with Katniss' fire dress in the first Hunger Games wowing spectators during her carriage ride through the city. Her clothing choice and general appearance are especially important because these first impressions help Capitol City citizens decide who they wish to sponsor. The importance of Katniss' visual presentation also speaks to just how superficial so many residents of Capitol City are.

Fashion, of course, works in hand-in-hand with other elements of the film to really hammer home just how disparate the different citizen classes are. Those in the Capitol also eat excessive amounts of food and then consume a drink that makes them vomit, thus allowing them to continue gorging themselves. Although it's now been eight years since the final Hunger Games movie was released, the latest cosplay proves that elements of the film still live on all these years later.
