CABO SAN LUCAS, México (AP) — Residentes del destino turístico de Los Cabos, en México, se preparaban el viernes para la llegada del huracán Norma, que se dirigía al extremo sur de la península de Baja California.
Mientras tanto, en el océano Atlántico, Tammy adquirió fuerza de huracán y amenazaba con azotar las Islas de Barlovento. El Centro Nacional de Huracanes de Estados Unidos dijo que Tammy había adquirido fuerza de huracán, con vientos máximos de 120 kilómetros por hora . Se emitieron avisos de huracán para las islas de Guadalupe, Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, San Cristóbal y Nieves, San Martín, San Bartolomeo, Anguila y St. Maarten.
El gobierno envió a 500 marinos al destino turístico para que ayudaran con las medidas previas a la llegada de la tormenta. Funcionarios municipales de Los Cabos dijeron que abrirían hasta 44 albergues de emergencia en caso de que fuera necesario y que las evacuaciones comenzarán en algunas zonas bajas situadas lejos de la zona turística costera.
