Hurricane Sally has left a path of destruction in the US, with torrential rains turning streets into rivers and winds tearing homes apart. More:
Hurricane Sally made landfall as a Category 2 storm in Alabama in the early morning of September 16, packing maximum steady winds of 100 mph, reports said. The National Hurricane Center said 'historic and catastrophic flooding' was likely in parts of northwest Florida and southern Alabama. This video shows the heavy rain accumulating in Gulf Shores. The uploader said they estimated about eight inches of water in their parking lot.
County Sheriff David Morgan said crews in boats and high water vehicles were rescuing thousands of people from their homes and elsewhere due to heavy flooding. “Conditions during #HurricaneSally are very dangerous and there is widespread flooding on roadways. Please stay inside unless there is an emergency.”Source:SuppliedSource:SuppliedA bedroom left exposed to the elements after Hurricane Sally tore through southern Alabama.
