The parents of a Melbourne mother whose body was found in a wheelie bin have reportedly claimed their son-in-law turned up at their doorstep in India to confess to suffocating their daughter.

On Monday it was revealed that Mr Varikuppala flew back to India and gave their son to his mother-in-law before disappearing. But in an interview published on Thursday, Ms Madhagani’s father told the Herald Sun about the family’s shock when their son-in-law turned up on their doorstep and confessed he had strangled their daughter.
Mr Reddy said when his wife came out their daughter’s husband held her feet and repeated the confession, saying it had “happened unintentionally” and he “didn’t want to kill her”. The heartbroken father spoke of the family’s devastation at hearing the news, revealing how his wife was left in as state of shocked silence.
