Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan will refuse to appear before an inquiry into Ambulance Victoria, despite the state government body being at crisis point.
'A hypocritical attempt to avoid scrutiny': Victoria n premier Jacinta Allan told parliament she will refuse to appear before inquiry into Ambulance Victoria
The parliamentary inquiry comes amid a collapse in morale among Victorian paramedics, with both the Victorian Ambulance Union and the Ambulance Managers and Professionals Association having recently passed 'no confidence' motions in the leadership of Ambulance Victoria. Ambulance response times are also well below targets, with statistics for the April to June quarter showing just 64.2 per cent of “lights and sirens” incidents were responded to within 15 minutes – well below the statewide target of 85 per cent.
As a lower house MP, the Premier cannot be compelled to appear before the inquiry set up by the upper house.
