We've snuck an early go in the Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric car. Join Guy Bird onboard in our prototype review ⚡️
– and also benefits from the same EV-only platform as the Ioniq 5, translating to short front and rear overhangs, a super-long 2950mm wheelbase and an enormous cabin…Thankfully the Ioniq 6 prototype’s cabin was more representative of the final car you’ll be able to buy come November 2022 from circa £45,000.
Our short test drive offered a real mix of roads – South Korea likes speed bumps and has ropey roads just like the UK – but the 6’s suspension suppressed pretty much all of the tarmac-related fuss. Overall, it’s quiet to pilot and while steering is neither firm nor light, the low-driving position feels closer to the action. Grown-up calm exec stuff this. That colourful cabin image seemed like a Photoshop fantasy until we drove through a tunnel.
