Premier Daniel Andrews has apologised to all Victorian families for the state of the health care system as he spoke to the reason behind the staff shortages.
In an exclusive interview aired to Sky News Australia on Monday, Col Leatham recounted the significant ambulance delays which he believed led to his father’s death in March.
Ambulance Victoria determined he needed specialist treatment in Melbourne but his transfer to the capital city was critically delayed and the Leatham family were left in the dark for 12 hours as to the whereabouts of their ill family member. Victorian Health Minister Mary Anne Thomas also refused to discuss what had gone wrong in detail as she issued her condolences to the family.
Mr Leatham said the multiple transfers his father was subjected to was a waste of time as he blamed them for his father’s death.
