He's just one of the Manchester City players who have become regular diners at the little Italian Vero Moderno in Chapel Street, Salford.
We couldn't find garlic bread on the menu and wondered if that was banned too, but thankfully they do serve it and it was a rather large, light and crispy one we shared as we waited on the mains we were told would take around 20 minutes. My friend was just as impressed with her paccheri con pesce spada - large tubes of al dente pasta with cubes of fresh, juicy swordfish in a light aubergine and Italian pomodorino sauce, with basil scented crumble. Far superior to the standard penne or tagliatelle you get in your average Italian.
Taking the opportunity to ask him about his City regulars, he pointed out that Haaland had been there earlier. Just in case I thought he was telling porkies, , I was ushered into the restaurant's CCTV cupboard and shown the footage of Erling arriving at 'his' table - the same one he's sat at once a week, almost every week, for the last three years.
