Australia’s Daria Saville has opened up about the volatile mix of emotions she’s experiencing amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and its impact on the tennis tour.

Asked whether Russians should be permitted to play in London next month, Saville explained how she was walking a tightrope.“[Daria] Kasatkina [is] one of my best friends. I want her to play, but they also understand the decision too. Asked about whether she had any level of sympathy for Russian players, Saville said: “Yes and no ... it’s tough, it’s hard for me also to comment.“I definitely do support Ukrainian players. Imagine not having a home. There is worse things happening [than] not playing Wimbledon.”
