One Nation party leader Pauline Hanson has denied she supports the Port Arthur conspiracy theory, and says the convicted murderer Martin Bryant should have been given the death penalty. Senator Hanson says her comments about the 1996 atrocity in Tasmania, which left 35 people dead, referred simply to a book which suggests the massacre was a government inside job.
The senator says she thinks the video, secretly filmed by Al Jazeera, was dubbed and has called for the conversation to be released in its entirety. The One Nation leader also slammed an Al Jazeera video showing party officials James Ashby and Steve Dickson allegedly requesting $20 million from the American gun lobby. She has apologised to the Australian people, saying her vote is ‘not up for sale’, and that One Nation will never water down gun laws.
